Moving Day

The City Visible

IN 1985, when Margaret Morton began teaching photography at Cooper Union in the East Village, she moved into an apartment on nearby Tompkins Square Park. At the time, a number of homeless people were living in the park in shelters built from scavenged materials. Ms. Morton began photographing these makeshift homes and their owners.
